SIMILARITIES AND DIFFERENCES BETWEEN MALTESE, BOLOGNESE, AND BICHON FRISÉ DOGS
This guide will help everyone who doesn’t know the difference between:
Maltese dog,
Bichon Frisé (also known as Bichón Tenerife and Bichon à poil frisé),
and Bolognese dog (also known as Bolo, Bichon Bolognese, Bologneser)
Because of their looks, size, character, and intellect, more and more people choose to live with one of these breeds. They adapt easily and learn quickly, so they are ideal pets for both families with small children and older people.
What these three breeds have in common is that they are:
Small,
White,
Fluffy coat,
Bound and loyal to the owner,
Good guardians,
They don’t shed,
They don’t have an odor,
And they have a hypoallergenic coat
They also have in common that they come from the same Bichon family and belong to the same IX FCI group – COMPANION AND TOY DOGS.
Although they seem to have many similarities at first glance, these three breeds differ in some ways.

Size difference:
The smallest: Maltese
Medium size: Bologneser
The biggest: Bichon Frisé
Their fur is the same color (white), but there are differences:
The Maltese have a straight, long coat.
The Bolognese has a thicker, wavy coat.
The Bichon Fricé has the densest and fully curly coat.

They also differ in barking:
The Maltese is the most successful in this category and takes 1st place,
Bichon Fricé takes 2nd place,
The Bolognese takes 3rd place because it barks the least.
There are also differences in energy levels:
1st place: Maltese dog;
2nd place: Bichon Frisé;
3rd place: Bolognese dog;

Popularity:
1st place: Maltese dog;
2nd place: Bichon Frisé;
3rd place: Bolognese dog;
Now that we have compared these three breeds, you can conclude that there are a few differences between them. My decision was Bolognese dog who is unfairly neglected. Unfortunately, they are not so numerous but are wonderful dogs, and it’s beautiful to live with them.
You can tell me which breed you have chosen and what factors helped with your decision. 😊
